That's why I was so surprised to learn that the shortest recorded war in history lasted only about 38 minutes. It happened in 1896 between the British Empire and the Sultanate of Zanzibar. After a political dispute escalated, the fighting began and ended almost immediately because of the overwhelming military imbalance.
