Actually the temperature of the objects is almost the same. The difference is in the ability of each material to conduct heat.
Metal can absorb heat from our hands more quickly. Because heat from the skin transfers quickly, the brain perceives metal as colder.
Meanwhile wood and plastic conduct heat much more slowly. That's why the two materials feel warmer even though the temperature is actually the same.
So the cold feeling we feel is not because metal has a lower temperature, but because of the way metal transfers heat from our bodies.
