Reducing the use of gadgets in young children does not always work if the method is simply to take the device away suddenly. Children will usually be angry because gadgets have become part of their routine, especially if these devices have often been used to entertain or calm them. In my opinion, the first step is to create clear and consistent rules regarding when gadgets can be used. Don't let it be forbidden today, but give it hours tomorrow because your parents are busy. Children will more easily understand boundaries if these rules are applied consistently.
Another very important thing is to provide attractive substitutes. If the gadget is taken but the child has nothing else to do, of course they will keep asking for it back. Invite children to play, draw, read books, help with simple chores at home, play outside, or do activities with the family. Parents also need to look at their own habits because children learn from what they see every day. If parents continue to use cellphones in front of their children, it is quite difficult to ask children to stop using gadgets. So, the issue isn't just how long kids hold onto devices, but how to build routines that keep life outside the screen interesting.
