The Rotary Club of Semarang Lawang Sewu continues to strengthen its organization by adding new members. In an activity at Tentrem Mall, Semarang City, Thursday, August 13 2026, four new members of the Rotary Club of Semarang Lawang Sewu were officially inaugurated.
In the same activity, Rotaract of Semarang Warag Ngendog also introduced 15 young members who had just joined. This addition of members is not only about increasing the number of organizations, but is also part of efforts to expand social and humanitarian activities.
Addition of Members to Strengthen the Organization
Increasing members can provide new energy for an organization. This is also a concern for the Rotary Club of Semarang Lawang Sewu which wants to strengthen membership so that more people can be involved in various activities.
President of the Rotary Club of Semarang Lawang Sewu, Anita Rini, explained that the more members who join, the greater the potential that can be used to carry out various Rotary activities.
In my opinion, this is quite reasonable because social activities require many people with different abilities and experiences. With more members, the division of tasks and the emergence of new ideas can also become more diverse.
Rotaract Becomes a Space for the Young Generation
Apart from the four new members of the Rotary Club of Semarang Lawang Sewu, there are 15 young people who have joined the Rotaract of Semarang Warag Ngendog.
Rotaract has an interesting role because it is a forum for the younger generation to get to know social activities as well as learn to organize. This experience can help them develop leadership, communication, cooperation and concern for the surrounding environment.
Anita Rini also sees the younger generation as an important part of the sustainability of the Rotary movement. They are expected to be able to continue the various social activities that have been carried out while bringing new ideas in line with current developments.
More doesn't mean it's finished
The growth in the number of members is indeed a positive thing for the organization. However, the amount alone is not enough if it is not followed by involvement in activities that provide benefits.
District Governor Rotary District 3420 Rotary Year 2026-2027, Wayan Tur Atyana, said that new members are expected to immediately be involved in various projects that have an impact on the community.
This view shows that the success of a social organization cannot only be seen from the number of people who join. What is more important is what members do after becoming part of the organization.
Meaning of "Create Lasting Impact"
In this activity, the spirit of "Create Lasting Impact" was also one of the things emphasized. This term can be understood as an effort to create an impact that lasts in the long term.
In social activities, providing assistance once can really help. However, programs designed to provide sustainable benefits certainly have broader value.
Therefore, new members of Rotary and Rotaract are expected not only to actively participate in activities, but also to think about programs that can provide positive change for society.
Activities Packaged with an Atmosphere of Togetherness
The inauguration of the new members took place in a quite festive atmosphere. The activity is also part of a series of commemorations of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

If membership growth goes hand in hand with improving program quality, Rotary and Rotaract can have an increasingly strong role in humanitarian and social activities in society. Not only is it getting bigger in terms of the number of members, but it is also getting more and more beneficial for people in need.
