Sometimes life feels hard not because we really don't have anything, but because we are too busy looking at what we don't have. We see other people have something we want, then forget to appreciate the things that are actually right before our eyes. I've been like that too. You only realize how valuable health is when your body starts to feel uncomfortable, you only start to appreciate time with your family when you are busy making them rarely see each other, or you only realize the meaning of calm after going through a period full of problems. Being grateful doesn't mean you have to feel satisfied with your situation and stop having goals. We can still want to develop, want to have a better life, and pursue our dreams. Just don't let the desire to get more make us never enjoy what we already have now. Sometimes simple happiness is actually found in a cup of drink, a short conversation, a house to go home to, or someone who is still willing to listen to our stories. When you start learning to appreciate the little things, life feels much lighter.
