The legal advisor team for the inactive Pekalongan Regent, Fadia Arafiq, emphasized that his client was not the result of a sting operation (OTT) and currently still has the status of a defendant who is protected by the presumption of innocence.
This confirmation was conveyed during a trial at the Semarang Corruption Crime Court (Tipikor).
"Ms. Fadia has not been declared guilty until there is a final court decision. Her current status is still a presumption of innocence," said Fadlila Diani during the trial.
According to him, the trial process is still ongoing and all accusations from the public prosecutor will be tested through evidentiary mechanisms in court.
"The legal advisory team will fight in the evidentiary process at trial to defend our client's legal interests," he continued.
The principle of presumption of innocence is a fundamental principle in the criminal justice system in Indonesia.
The trial of this case is still continuing with an examination agenda according to the schedule set by the panel of judges.
