Housing Minister Maruarar Sirait said a 30-hectare parcel of donated land has completed its transfer to the state and is now ready to be developed into housing aimed at lower-income households.
Maruarar made the statement in Batang, Central Java, on July 31. With the land transfer completed, the property is expected to be developed by the Danantara investment agency together with state-owned companies. The project is planned to provide around 141,000 housing units in stages.
The development is part of the government's 3 Million Homes program, which aims to expand access to affordable and decent housing. Having the land transfer completed is an important step because it allows the project to move beyond planning and into the next stages of development.
The project has already involved cooperation between the government, private sector, and financing institutions. Construction of the subsidized apartment project officially began with a groundbreaking ceremony on March 8, 2026, on approximately 30 hectares of land that the government described as clean and clear. The government says the apartments are intended primarily for lower-income households while also making use of land that had previously been associated with the Meikarta development.
