On Friday, July 31, 2026, President Prabowo Subianto met with business leaders and representatives of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, or Kadin, from across the country at the State Palace in Jakarta. Kadin chairman Anindya Novyan Bakrie and representatives from all 38 provinces attended the meeting to discuss the economy and how the business community can help strengthen growth at the regional level.
Anindya said the Kadin representatives came from every part of Indonesia, from Aceh to Papua. The meeting was intended not only to discuss national business interests, but also to bring regional economic conditions directly to the government and explore possible solutions as Indonesia deals with continued global economic and geopolitical uncertainty.
Anindya emphasized the importance of stronger communication between the government and the private sector. Businesses in different parts of the country continue to see opportunities for growth, but they also need clearer policies, better coordination, and more opportunities to communicate their problems directly with policymakers.
Around 30 business associations and industry groups also attended the meeting. The government was represented by several ministers and senior officials, including Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Trade Minister Budi Santoso, Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman, Small and Medium Enterprises Minister Maman Abdurrahman, Housing Minister Maruarar Sirait, Energy Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, Manpower Minister Yassierli, Danantara executive Dony Oskaria, and Pindad president director Sigit Puji Santosa.
The meeting builds on earlier discussions between the president and the business community. Anindya said Kadin leaders had previously met Prabowo at his residence in Hambalang, Bogor, in 2025, when they were already discussing the economic and geopolitical challenges Indonesia could face.
This time, the discussions come as global uncertainty remains a concern and Indonesia continues to look for ways to strengthen growth from the regions outward. The participation of Kadin representatives from all provinces means the conversation is not limited to national economic policy. It also brings local business conditions, regional investment opportunities, and challenges faced outside Jakarta into the discussion.
The meeting also comes as the government pushes a broader policy to strengthen entrepreneurship. President Prabowo signed Presidential Regulation No. 38 of 2026 on National Entrepreneurship Development on July 2, 2026. The regulation is intended to accelerate the growth of Indonesia's entrepreneurial base and strengthen the national business ecosystem.
The next challenge will be turning the dialogue into policies that businesses can actually feel on the ground. For companies in the regions, investment opportunities, financing access, regulatory certainty, supply chains, workforce availability, and market access will remain crucial factors in determining whether national economic growth translates into stronger local economies.See More
