Have you ever braked your motorbike hard enough to think, "What if the wheels lock?" Well, that's where one of the ABS functions is important.
ABS or Anti-lock Braking System helps prevent the wheels from locking during hard braking. This system reads the rotation speed of the wheels and can adjust the brake pressure very quickly when it detects the wheels are starting to lose rotation.
The goal is not to make the motorbike stop in all conditions with the same distance, but to help the rider maintain control when carrying out emergency braking. This is very useful when having to stop suddenly in an unexpected situation.
Even though there is ABS, that doesn't mean the driver can brake carelessly. The condition of the tires, road surface, speed and how to control the motorbike still have a big influence on safety.
